M3 Challenge spotlights applied mathematics as a powerful problem-solving tool and as a viable and exciting profession. Participating students are encouraged to explore and bolster their mathematical modeling know-how to position themselves for success. The specific real-world problem that is posed each year is entirely unknown to participants until they login during Challenge weekend. The Challenge is entirely Internet-based with no registration or participation fees. 
Extreme Redesign: Engineering Secondary Education

Have you ever thought - I can make that better? Here is your chance to invent, innovate or improve something by re-engineering it to be printed in 3D in the annual Extreme Redesign Challenge. Consider different 3D printing methodologies (FDM, SLS, SLA and PolyJet) and materials available, and pick the best method for the production of your design. We are looking for sound designs that consider the tolerance and layer thickness capabilities of the 3D printer you’ll use, and includes calculations and documentation of design decisions related to those capabilities. Your entry should include a compelling description (written and/or video), illustrating design creativity & usefulness – does your design solve a problem or innovate on a current solution to make it better in some way?
Extreme Redesign: Art, Jewelry and Architecture

n this category, you are encouraged to use your imagination and express your creativity in submitting an artistic, unique and original design that takes full advantage of capabilities offered by 3D printing. Consider different 3D printing methodologies (like FDM or PolyJet) and materials available, and pick the best method for the production of your design. We are looking for designs that are aesthetically pleasing and evoke emotion. In this category, the description is especially important - and we encourage you to be creative with the description as well! Let us know what inspired your design, what is the meaning of your design and what impact you'd like it to have.
