| Eligibility: | SCHOOLS: All schools (grades K-12) in the United States are eligible to apply. Projects must be sponsored by a formally recognized school group, such as a grade level, classroom or club. Public, private, and licensed home schools are all eligible to apply. Individual students (e.g., science fair projects) and the previous year's award-winning educators and projects are not eligible to apply. COMMUNITY GROUPS: Community-based projects, such as those managed and operated by community service organizations, public recreation centers, 4-H clubs and other public, non-profit groups working to protect the environment at the grass-roots level. Eligibility determination shall be at the sole discretion of SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. |
| Purpose: | We're pleased to announce the 2011 SeaWorld Busch Gardens Environmental Excellence Awards. Since 1993, the awards have recognized the outstanding efforts of students and teachers across the country who are working at the grassroots level to protect and preserve the environment. Over the last 17 years, we've awarded $1.7 million to more than 150 schools in 35 U.S. states/territories. In 2004, the awards program was expanded to include community groups who are protecting planet Earth |
